Book Review - Shift: Inside Nissan's Historic Revival

In my International Management class we were asked to read Shift: Inside Nissan's Historic Revival it was an excellent book and I figured I would share my opinion of it.

First the book is mostly an autobiography about Carlos Ghosn the now CEO of Renault and Nissan. The book takes you through Carlos's life, being born of Lebanese parents, in Brazil and earning a French Education makes for a very unique individual. For anyone interested in learning about one man's rise to prominence, learning about front line management in a variety of roles and later in the book lots on international management this is a great read. The book is filled with interesting stories in the variety of jobs Carlos has held. Unfortunately, Carlos has only worked for a few companies (Michelin and Renault/Nissan) but working with those companies in a wide variety of positions gives a wide range perspectives.

The turnaround story of Nissan was impressive and to this day they are executing well especially in a very tough automotive environment. So if your interested in a good fairly light read, pick up Shift: Inside Nissan's Historic Revival.
